The Book on Loss Prevention
The Origins of Loss Prevention
Loss Prevention is a pretty broad space. It applies to many industries, processes, and focus areas. For example, in the insurance space, loss prevention would focus primarily on reducing the frequency of incidents or injuries, and on reducing or mitigating the amount of loss related to various loss exposures. Loss prevention in the financial industry might focus primarily on data loss exposures or fraud, and on reducing margin losses. In the retail industry, loss prevention focuses on reducing shrink due to theft, damage, or other loss. For the purposes of this book, we will be primarily discussing retail loss prevention.
